Latest Updates re Internet Outage
Sept 26, 2006
All dial-up accounts have migrated to the new network. We have been working from migrated records so there may be some login discrepancies. We ask your patience as we have a large number of customers to talk to. We will eventually contact you to discuss any issues.
All ADSL accounts have been transferred off the Veridas network (which is still down) and the majority will be coming online gradually over the next 48 hours. Please note it will be necessary to alter your ADSL login from your_username@veridas.net to your_username@australisit.net.
All mail services, with the exception of locall.aunz.com, are now back online. Again if you have trouble logging into your account it may be a password discrepancy from our records.

Some services on the Veridas network were briefly available over the weekend but are again offline.
All dial-up accounts have now completed migration to our new network. Please refer to our instructions to make necessary changes to dial-up and mailserver settings.
Mail services have been re-delegated to our new server and are expected to be completely restored by 9am tomorrow morning. We regret to advise that any mail which was not collected from the old server prior to the outage may be lost due to the unforeseen circumstances with Veridas. We are presently investigating ways in which this may be retrieved.
It is apparent that Veridas will NOT be restoring ADSL broadband service and ADSL tails are at risk of being disconnected permanently. To avoid reconnection cost and delays we are migrating ADSL tails to our other supplier in a process which takes a minimum of two days. We are offering a backup dialup service to any ADSL customer who requires it and we ask for your continued patience during this time.

Dear Customer
As you are no doubt aware over the last few days we have been experiencing a major outage due to a complete network failure by the wholesale carrier Veridas Communications. As at 12 noon today dialup services, mail services and some adsl broadband services have been restored.
This failure is reportedly affecting in excess of 30,000 Australian internet subscribers and a large number of Internet Service Providers. Unfortunately no warning was made available to us prior to these events and we are very dissatisfied with the way Veridas has handled the situation.
As a result we feel it has become necessary to transfer our customers to our alternate supplier.
Our main priority is to completely restore all services, and we are in the process of contacting our customers by phone as quickly as possible.
Instructions for changing to the new dial-up settings are available here. We expect all accounts will have completed migration to our new supplier by midday Monday 25 Sept. More information will be available here shortly concerning ADSL services.
Once again, I would like to offer you my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this outage has caused and ask for your continued patience.
Melissa James, Owner Locall Australis Internet
